Rue-Degovu Calendar

The Rue-Degovu Calendar is the calendar used in the majority of Verant. It went into effect during 36:055, following the international treaty that took place during the 62th convention of the GCA (Global Cooperation Assembly). Unlike the Archaic Rue calendar, the Rue-Degovu calendar has no presence of leap years. This has allowed for more accurate timekeeping of historical events, one of the reasons why this calendar got adopted. The reform was initially embraced by bankers and scribes from the governments in the Teotlanco continent, but trade and literature led to expanded use of the calendar. By 38:059, it's estimated that the majority of the world's countries had transitioned to use the Rue-Degovu calendar, at least for civic purposes.

The Rue-Degovu calendar is a lunisolar calendar, with its dates mainly indicated by the position of the sun relative to the stars. Each year consists of 340 days, divided in 14 months. Each month has a length of 24-25 days. Rue-Degovu years are identified by an Era; in addition to a Fraction, or year. Each Era lasts 144 Fractions. The beginning of the calendar (0:001) is based around the establishment of the Itilítela, as it's the earliest known civilisation of recorded history.

The division of the year is as follows

The month itself is divided by a system of weeks, each week having six days. The first and third day of the week are widely considered to be rest days, and most companies will provide time off or a reduced workday.

The system of weeks and months follow an approximate pattern based on the moon phases. Verant has two natural satellites: Alderhan and Tarohan. Months are determined by Alderhan's movements, while weeks are based on Tarohan's.
